“I live in the Coral Triangle, one of the richest seas for life on Earth, and in nearby warm seas. I live deep under the water, on lower reef slopes where the light is gentle. My body spreads wide and flat across the reef, with thin branches that open like a fan. Small sea animals come near me to move, hide, and rest. I may look still, but I help the deep reef feel alive. In some places, I can still be found. But if the ocean changes too fast, fewer animals will come. Then my wide place on the reef will hold less life, and the sea around me will grow quieter.”
